GREENVILLE, N.C. -East Carolina senior Sean Allen was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First-Team, according to an announcement by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Thursday. Allen is one of five offensive linemen and 13 seniors selected to the 23-man District III University squad.
To be eligible a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, a starter or key reserve, and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3. As first-team all-district selection, Allen advances for consideration for the national ESPN The Magazine University CoSIDA Academic All-America team.
Allen, a native of Wilson, N.C., boasts a 3.34 grade-point average as a business and information technology major. He is a three-time Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and five-time ECU Director of Athletics Honor Roll recipient.
On the field this season, Allen has started all nine games at center logging 431 plays from scrimmage with 31 knockdown blocks. The preseason First-Team All C-USA selection and Rotary Lombardi Watch List candidate, has anchored an offensive line that has produced three 100-yard rushing performances by fellow classmate Dominique Lindsay on the way to helping the Pirates post a 5-4 overall record and a 4-1 slate in league action.
