GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina volleyball team welcomes UAB to Minges Coliseum Sunday for a 1 p.m. first serve, looking to avenge a 3-0 loss to the Blazers earlier this season.
The Pirates played in front of a Minges Coliseum-best 1,348 fans and in front of a CBS College Sports national audience Friday night, but after winning the first set, Memphis rallied to take the next three and the contest (20-25, 25-19, 25-16, 26-24).
Junior Lizzy Bruin paced the offense with 12 kills while senior Bobbie Jo Stall notched a career-best 11. Additionally, senior Stephanie Turner and redshirt sophomore Nicole Jones picked up 11 digs to anchor the defense. The digs by Turner allowed her to match senior Hannah Fenker for eighth on the program digs career chart. With six digs on Friday, Fenker needs just 19 to become the first player in program history to net 1,000 assists and 1,000 digs in a career.
UAB enters the contest at 14-15 overall and 6-7 in conference play after dropping a 3-0 decision at Marshall Friday, despite receiving a double-double from Jordan McDonald, her fifth of the season.
Setter Alison Woods, who had 30 assists in the contest, led UAB with four total blocks, and Uzoh added three. The Blazers also out-blocked the Herd, 7-0, for the match.
After today's match, ECU closes out the season Nov. 14 when it entertains league rival Marshall at 12 noon at Minges Coliseum.
