Head Coach McCarthy Post-Game Quotes
D. Morrow and B. Young Post-Game Quotes
East Carolina Head Coach Mack McCarthy
On His Team's Mistakes During The Game
"We continue to have some mistakes that are under our control. We drop our head when a foul doesn't get called, when a teammate turns the ball over or somebody doesn't rotate on defense. We have to grow up and get past those things so we don't have those plays during the game. Everything that happened to us as we tried to creep back into the game were things that were mostly under our control."
On His Team's And Clemson's Depth
"Clemson is a really deep team. Their depth was the difference tonight. They had 41 points off the bench to our eight. We have to get a little more production off our bench. I thought probably four of our starters played well enough to keep us in the game and have a chance to win."
On Chad Wynn's Game
"Chad Wynn did not have a great game tonight. It was a tough game for him with how athletic and fast paced the game was. I know he's disappointed in how he played. The other guys all had their moments where they played well enough for us to compete."
On Clemson's Trevor Booker
"You have to take something away [from their offense] and we chose to try and do a good job on Booker. He has a great stat line, but he went 5-13 from the field. We did probably about as well as we could do. But he had nine assists and 12 rebounds. There's a reason he has started every game since he's been there."
On His Team's Offensive Struggles
"You couldn't make an entry pass to the wing very easily. I didn't think we worked hard enough to get open. When we did that, we had some things ready to go off the dribble. You have to set and use screens. That's part of what we've really been working on the past 10 days."
East Carolina Junior Brock Young
On The Team's Offensive Performance
"We couldn't get into the swing of things. Clemson played good denial defense on the wings. They put pressure on the ball and it was hard to get the offense going."
On Tonight's Crowd
"We had a great crowd tonight. I hope everybody comes back. Unfortunately, we couldn't sustain our intensity and that's something we have to get better at."
On What This Game Means Going Forward
"I think we stand pretty well. This is a good test for us to see how we're going to be in conference. After tonight, I think we have a pretty good chance in Conference USA."
On How Close The Team Is To Putting Everything Together
"It started this week in practice when we tweaked the offense a little bit. We got into the flow of things a little bit. When you go against a defense that overplays everything and pressures the ball, it's tough to assess. That's just something we're going to have to get used to and work on in practice."
East Carolina Sophomore Darius Morrow
On Going Against Clemson's Post Players
"It's a great experience. Trevor Booker is an All-ACC performer. It's a great match-up. I wanted to come out, play hard and show them what I'm made of."
On His Team's Intensity
"Toward the end we started playing hard and trying to fight back. It was a little bit too late. Hopefully we'll learn from this experience."
