
Pirates Fall To George Washington In Overtime 84-80

GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) -Damian Hollis scored 21 points and Tony Taylor had 20 to help George Washington edge East Carolina 84-80 in overtime Tuesday night in the first game between the former Southern Conference foes since 1973.
Hollis scored nine of the Colonials' 11 points in overtime, starting with a 3-pointer. After a Taylor jumper gave George Washington (8-2) a 78-76 lead, Hollis went 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
In regulation, the Pirates (5-7) led 73-71 with 19 seconds left on Jamar Abrams' 3-pointer. Dwayne Smith grabbed a rebound, then hit a jumper at the buzzer to force overtime.
Brock Young, who led East Carolina with 20 points and 10 assists, hit two free throws in overtime to tie the game at 76, then made two more for a tie at 78 with 1:28 left.
Hollis went to the line for the last time with 9 seconds left to seal the win for the Colonials, who are 4-0 on the road.
