GREENVILLE, N.C. --- East Carolina forward Darrius Morrow has been named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team as selected by a vote of the league's 12 head coaches and a panel of media members.
A native of Atlanta, Morrow leads the Pirates in rebounding with 6.5 boards per game, while ranking fifth on the team in scoring (9.6 ppg). Morrow ranks second among C-USA freshmen in rebounding and fourth in scoring.
Morrow is the sixth Pirate to earn C-USA All-Freshman Team honors, joining teammate Sam Hinnant (2006) and former Pirates Moussa Badiane (2002), Mike Cook (2004), Tom Hammonds (2005) and John Fields (2007) as ECU players to earn a spot on the team.
Joining Morrow on the team are Tyreke Evans (Memphis), Damier Pitts (Marshall), Arnett Moultrie (UTEP), Paul McCoy (SMU) and A.J. Rompza (UCF). Evans was voted Conference USA Freshman-of-the-Year.
East Carolina begins play at the 2009 Conference USA Championship Wednesday, March 11, against Tulane. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT.
