
Maness Named To National All-Star Team

LUBBOCK, Texas - East Carolina sophomore Seth Maness was named to the College Baseball Foundation and Diamond Sports National All-Star Lineup this week the organization announced Thursday.
Maness, who was named the Conference USA Pitcher-of-the-Week, tossed the first complete game of his career against No. 1 Rice in a 4-1 win on Saturday, Apr. 12. The Preseason C-USA Pitcher-of-the-Year and Brooks Wallace Watch List Candidate threw exactly 100 pitches, allowing one unearned run on three hits. Maness fanned a season-high eight Owls, while issuing just one walk. At one point, Maness retired 12 consecutive hitters from the fifth (2nd out) to ninth (1st out), retiring 23 of the last 25 batters he faced. He struck out at least one hitter in six-of-nine innings and had two punch outs in the first and ninth frames. In all, Maness faced 33 batters allowing a walk, three singles while one batter reached on an error.
The right-hander from Pinehurst, N.C. is the second Pirate to be named to the College Baseball Foundation National All-Star lineup following Kyle Roller's selection on March 25. Back in 2007, four Pirates (T.J. Hose - Mar. 12, Shane Mathews - Mar. 19, Dale Mollenhauer - Mar. 19 and Harrison Eldridge - Mar. 27) all received the national weekly honor.
ECU will be back on the diamond Friday night when they start a three-game Conference USA series against Tulane at Greer Field inside Turchin Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. (EDT).
