GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina Department of Athletics is enjoying another brisk football season ticket sales pace that will likely result in a lack of single-game ticket availability for at least four of six games at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium this fall.
With approximately 19,200 season tickets already ordered, ECU now has less than 2,800 remaining with nearly three months to go prior to the Pirates' opener against Appalachian State Sept. 5.
Games against Atlantic Coast Conference member Virgina Tech (Nov. 5) and three-time FCS national champion ASU highlight East Carolina's 2009 season ticket package. In addition, Conference USA opponents UCF (Sept. 26), Rice (Oct. 17), UAB (Nov. 21) and Southern Miss (Nov. 28) are slated to visit Greenville in 2009.
In addition to the matchups with the Hokies and Mountaineers, popular designated contests against the Knights (Family Weekend) and Owls (Homecoming) will also be anticipated sell-outs which would require a season ticket as the only guaranteed means of admission.
East Carolina has established program attendance records in back-to-back seasons under head coach Skip Holtz. ECU drew a total of 249,219 fans in 2007 before setting a new single-season average standard with a 42,016 clip in 2008. The increases have been a reflection of success at the box office in Holtz' last three years, following a then-record of 16,318 in 2006 with a 22,000 sell-out number in 2007 and a 21,315 total in 2008.
Due to the high demand for season tickets, individual home game tickets will not be made available until August. Any remaining tickets will be sold to Pirate Club members first and will be assigned using the Pirate Club's Priority Point System. For membership information, which includes a list of many additional benefits, prospective new fans are encouraged to call the organization's administrative offices at (252) 737-4540.
Tickets may be purchased online at www.ECUPirates.com or by calling the ECU Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-DIAL-ECU.
