
Media Event, Workout Highlight Second Day

GREENVILLE, N.C. - After conducting its annual media day activities indoors during the late morning hours, the East Carolina Pirates returned to Hight Field inside the Cliff Moore Practice Complex for a two hour-and-15 minute practice in shorts and helmets where temperatures reached in the upper 90's.
The session marked the Pirates' second workout of fall camp. East Carolina will enter its next stage of preparation Sunday by progressing to shoulder pads before putting on full gear Tuesday afternoon.
In addition to Saturday's practice, East Carolina also welcomed approximately 25 media members representing 18 different agencies to the Murphy Center for Media Day '09. Newspaper, radio and television personnel from local and regional outlets conducted interviews with requested players and members of the coaching staff. A total of 22 players were made available for the opening segment of interviews which began at 11:00 a.m. at Harvey Hall.
NOTES: Head coach Skip Holtz announced that DB Emanuel Davis, OL Doug Palmer, RB Jonathan Williams and RB Norman Whitley have been reinstated ... Palmer (shoulder) and Whitley (hip) are on campus but are in the midst of rehabilitation assignments trying to bounce back from injuries ... Position Changes: Rob Kass (TE) and Cliff Perryman (DE) ... Former transfer walk-ons RB Brandon Jackson, DB Levin Neal, DL Josh Smith and WR Reyn Willis all have been elevated to scholarship status ... Holtz also announced that redshirt freshman DL Allen Crowder will not be a member of the program in 2009 due to a suspension for a violation of team rules ... Sunday's Practice Time: 3:30 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.; Season Opener: Sept. 5 vs. Appalachian State in Greenville (12 noon).
