GREENVILLE, N.C. – The kickoff time for East Carolina’s non-conference contest at Virginia Tech, scheduled for September 18 at Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, Va., has been set for 1:30 p.m. (EDT) according to an announcement from the Atlantic Coast Conference Thursday morning.
The game between the Pirates and Hokies will be streamed live online at ESPN3.com – ESPN’s signature broadband sports network.
East Carolina and Virginia Tech are currently in the midst of a nine-game series agreement which continued with the Pirates’ 27-22 win at Charlotte’s Bank of America Stadium in 2008 and a 16-3 Hokie triumph in Greenville last fall. The teams will square off in Blacksburg for the ninth overall time and first since a 17-7 victory by the hosts in 2007. Virginia Tech, which finished its 2009 season with a 10-3 record after a 37-14 triumph over Tennessee in the Chick-fil-A Bowl last December, stood No. 10 in the final Associated Press Top 25 poll.
Prior to heading to Blacksburg, the Pirates begin the season with a pair of home games against Conference USA foes Tulsa and Memphis. ECU and the Golden Hurricane open newly-renovated Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium Sept. 5 at 2:00 p.m. in a game that will be aired nationally on ESPN2. First-year head coach Ruffin McNeill then faces the Tigers Sept. 11.
The remainder of East Carolina’s kickoff times will be announced once other regional and local television broadcast schedules have been established.
