
Harris Selected By The Giants In MLB Draft

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina's Devin Harris was selected in the 48th round, pick 1458 overall, of the 2010 Major League Baseball First Year Amateur Player Draft by the San Francisco Giants Wednesday afternoon.
Harris, the 2009 Greenville Regional hero, belted 13 home runs, drove in 53 runs (career-high) and laced 18 doubles (career-high) - all ranking among the team and league leaders. He batted .314 (65-for-2-7) on the season and posted a pair of multi-HR games against Monmouth and Southern Miss in the Pirates 8-1 win over the Golden Eagles in the 2010 Conference USA Tournament.
The junior outfielder was named Louisville Slugger National Player-of-the-Week (Mar. 22) after hitting an impressive .524 (11-for-21) with five home runs, 12 RBI, four doubles and slugged 1.429 during the Pirates five-game stretch from Mar. 16-21.
Harris led ECU with 16 multi-RBI games including a pair of five-RBI contests against instate rival UNC Wilmington and Southern Miss, which tied a career-high. His 19 multi-hit games ranked third on the squad while his 43 runs scored was fourth.
Harris, who was drafted in the eighth round (pick 236) by the Baltimore Orioles in 2009, is the third Pirate to be selected in the 2010 Draft joining Seth Maness (Florida Marlins/ Rd. 41/ Pick 1247) and Kyle Roller (N.Y. Yankees/ Rd. 8/ Pick 265).
Also taken on day three were 2011 signees Jack Reinheimer (Atlanta Braves/ Rd. 31/ Pick 944) and Austin Chrismon (Houston Astros/ Rd. 32/ Pick 963).
