GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina football team's home opener Sunday against Conference USA rival Tulsa has been designated as a "Purple and Gold Event." The 2:00 p.m. contest against the Golden Hurricane will be nationally televised on ESPN2 and fans are encouraged to wear a certain color assigned to their seating section.
Individuals in the south stands (Sections 1-11) are requested to wear ECU Gold gear, while all other fans are asked to wear Purple Pirate apparel. For a diagram of the stadium and its assigned colors, visit the 2010 Promotions page.
Sunday will also complete Pirate Club Weekend. During halftime of the game, recognition ceremonies will be held for new scholarship endowments and the leaders of the Pirate Club.
To kickoff the season-opening weekend, Friday marks the beginning of "Paint It Purple Fridays" with national "College Colors Day." Fans are encouraged to show their Pirate Pride and ECU Spirit on Fridays throughout the fall by wearing purple.
Starting this season, fans can post photos wearing their favorite Friday, officially-licensed East Carolina apparel on the new "Gear Up Pirates" Facebook page. For more information about "Paint It Purple Fridays" and "College Colors Day," visit the ECU Traditions page.
