Jontae Sherrod scored 21 points, grabbed a career-high nine rebounds and handed out four assists. Sherrod made 11 free throws, sinking eight in the final 1:43. Sherrod's offensive rebound off a missed free throw with 1:43 allowed ECU to stretch its lead back to nine after UCF had cut the Pirates' 17-point lead down to seven. Sherrod made two 3-pointer to bring his season tally to 41, surpassing his 2009-10 total of 39.

With the Pirates' lead down to seven with 2:02 to play, Darrius Morrow blocked Keith Clanton's baseline drive and Erin Straughn grabbed the rebound before the Knights fouled Brock Young sending him to the line.

Brock Young drove into the lane and hit Darrius Morrow with a wrap-around pass ending a 10-1 run by the Knights and pushing ECU back out to a double-digit lead with 3:18 to play.

East Carolina won its 10th game of the season, equaling its 2009-10 season total in its 18th game. The Pirates didn't win their 10th game last year until the 29th game of the season.
The Pirates improved to 2-2 in Conference USA marking the first time they been at .500 through four league games since joining the conference in 2002.
ECU won its second straight game over UCF, both at the UCF Arena. The Pirates have won three of the last five games against the Knights.
It was the first home loss of the season for UCF, which had previously won all 10 of its games at UCF Arena this year.
