Player of the Game
Darrius Morrow scored a career-high 33 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the floor and 11-of-21 at the free throw line. He scored 21 points in the second half and finished with a game-high eight rebounds. Morrow scored the first six points of the game for the Pirates and also scored seven straight points during a three-minute stretch in the second half. After missing 10 of his first 18 attempts at the foul line, Morrow made his final three. His 11 made field goals were a career-best.
"I just followed the game plan and did what I had to do," Morrow said. "I wish I had made a few more free throws."
Morrow raised his scoring average (12.0 ppg) by more than a point in the game and improved his scoring average in Conference USA game to 16.0 ppg, second overall and in league games behind Jontae Sherrod.

With nine seconds to go, Jontae Sherrod missed a 3 only to have Darrius Morrow grab the offensive board, score and complete the 3-point play with five seconds to go.
Turning Point of the Game
Jamar Abrams 3-pointer brought the Pirates within two, 81-79, with 1:19 to play as they scored five points in 26 seconds after Damier Pitts put the Herd up by seven with 1:45 to play. DeAndre Kane then missed two free throws with 25 seconds to play to leave the door open for ECU to complete the comeback.
Stat of the Game
East Carolina made 21-of-32 free throw attempts (65.6 percent), while Marshall converted just 13-of-25. The Pirates made 5-of-5 free throws in the final six minutes with the Herd missing three of its five attempts in the game's final minutes.
Young Breaks Free Throw Record
Senior Brock Young became the school's all-time free throws made leader, breaking Gabriel Mikulas' mark of 381. Young entered the game with 380 conversions at the charity stripe. He finished the game 8-of-9 at the foul line to bring his career total to 389.
