East Carolina Head Coach Jeff Lebo
"It was an interesting game to say the least. Both teams were very efficient on offense. They shot the ball extremely well in the first half, got out to a 15-point and were in control from an offensive standpoint. We were scoring the ball in the first half too.
"In the second half when we made a little run then they made some 3s to extend the lead back out. We just made some terrific plays coming down the stretch. I'm proud of our kids; they competed awful hard. Marshall is a very good basketball team. We were just lucky at the end to finally take the lead."
On Darrius Morrow's performance
Morrow was unbelievable. He was just unbelievable tonight on the offensive end and we needed every point that we could get from him. They had a hard time with him. Two of the three they played [against him] fouled out and they had a hard time guarding him inside.
On playing a close game on the road
"This is our seventh game on the road in nine, so we've played in tough environments and we've been down before. We've lost a lot of close games. We lost at both Coastal Carolina and George Washington in the final seconds. It's good for the kids to finally see things starting to even out a little bit. We've had trouble finishing out games. I'm really proud of them."
On using a 2-3 zone
"We mixed it a little bit. We played it a little bit more tonight because we had Morrow with some fouls. We do mix it occasionally and we've played it a little more recently that we had earlier."
Marshall Head Coach Tom Herrion
"From the tap to the buzzer, we were very, very poor on defense. Defend and rebound - that's what we're supposed to be all about. We didn't defend at all, and we didn't rebound on the last possession."
"Morrow had a career night, threw us around like rag dolls in the post, one of our many, many deficiencies on defense. Our interior defense was poor, we didn't guard the 3 very well. The numbers are just mind-boggling - 55 percent from the floor, 47 from 3.
