On Southern Miss' play
"Congratulations to Southern Miss they played unbelievably well tonight and sometimes you've just got to tip your hat to somebody, and I tip my hat to them tonight. Their strategy was to burn the clock and try to score at the end of the shot clock. They made every big shot at the end of the shot clock it seemed like. I told my team at half that they won't shoot it that well in the second half and they shot it better.
"They had been struggling shooting the basketball on the road this year and you knew that they were going to come out of it. It was just unlucky for us that it happened tonight."
On the offense
"Offensively we were good enough; our numbers were outstanding. Fifty-one percent [from the field]. Thirty from three is not great,but its not awful and 80 percent from the line. We only turned the ball over 10 times in the game, but you look down and you lost.
On Southern Miss' Gary Flowers
"He is tough and he made though shots. They were unbelievably difficult shots. He is good player at the four position. He can do a lot of different stuff."
On the frustration of playing well but not winning
"Its really frustrating. We wanted this game so badly as a group. We had a great crowd here and had momentum. It's not like we played poorly and got beat, we did some good things out there. They played great and were better than us [tonight]."

On East Carolina
"This is a very good team here at East Carolina, its going to be very difficult to beat them when they come to our place. This league is absolutely incredible and East Carolina mirrors what this league is. They were thought of nothing at the beginning of the year. Their talent level and coaching level is top three in the league. Jeff is such a great fit for this place. This place is going get scary before its over with. They're real good now and I think they're really going beat some people this year. I think they're one of the top four or five teams in the league for sure; in a league where whoever finishes eighth is going be really good. It took our best game to beat them here."
"I am so impressed with what Jeff has done with this team and what he is going mean to this community and this school. This place has more potential than any place in the league. With Jeff at the helm it will have it."
On Gary Flowers play
We shifted the lineup a bit , didn't start him or Angelo, I thought without Flowers we don't win the game, Angelo without him we don't win the game, I thought they play two of their better games this year because we changed it up a bit. We are kinda like East Carolina, we have a lot of depth. We had lost two in a row and I wanted him to get a feel for it maybe coming from the bench and the same with Angelo.
On the final minutes of the game
"It has nothing to do with East Carolina, because I thought we weren't going to be denied with four minutes to go. We have been to South Florida and Cal and won. We have been to some tough places this year and won with these guys. We wanted this win, not any more than East Carolina, we just happened that we got the breaks. [Brock] Young turned it over late, which he never does and we made a couple shots and they missed a couple shots. Both teams had a 12-rounder, it was great."
