Player of the Game
Darrius Morrow posted his second-highest scoring game of the season with 17 points in 33 minutes of action. The junior finished the game 5-of-10 from the field and 7-of-11 from the free throw line. He also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds and a season-high three steals. Morrow has scored double figures in three of the last four games, averaging 12.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. 

Play of the Game 
Corvonn Gaines converted the Pirates' first 4-point play of the season. Gaines sank a 3-pointer with 13:09 to play and was knocked to the grown by Memphis' Charles Carmouche. Gaines calmly stepped to the line to sink the free throw.

Turning Point of the Game
 With the game tied at 56, Wesley Witherspoon made two free throws with 2:54 to play and never trailed again. The Pirates missed two shots on their ensuing possession and neither team scored for the next 2:30. Will Barton made the first of two free throws with 24 seconds to play before Antonio Barton made a foul shot with 13 seconds remaining to give the Tigers a two possession lead.

Stat of the Game
The Pirates held the Tigers to 15.4 percent shooting from behind the arc. ECU entered Saturday's game leading Conference USA in 3-point field goal defense at 27.0 percent. After 15 games this season, ECU is holding its opponents to 26.4 percent shooting from behind the arc.

Additional Game Notes

East Carolina fell to 2-8 all-time in Conference USA openers, including three losses to the Tigers.

The Pirates fell to 0-9 all-time against the Tigers. It was the smallest margin of defeat in series history.

ECU held the Tigers to a season-low 61 points and tied for the fewest points surrendered by the Pirates in series history.

Memphis' 20 turnovers were the most forced by the Pirates this season.
