Varner Leads Field At AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic

DULUTH, Ga. --- East Carolina senior Harold Varner leads the field at the 2011 AutoTrader.com Collegiate Classic after firing a 5-under (71-68=139) during the first two rounds of competition Monday at the Berkeley Hills Country Club. Varner holds a one-stroke lead over Chattanooga's Stephan Jaeger who stands second at 4-under.
The Pirates sit alone in fourth-place in the team standings at 9-over (300-285=585). After shooting 12-over in the opening round, ECU regrouped and carded the top team score of the second round at 3-under.
North Florida leads the team standings at 1-under (289-286=575). Chattanooga sits in second-place at 2-over (291-287=578) followed by Georgia Southern in third-place at 4-over (292-292=584).
ECU has a four-stroke lead over fifth-place Georgia State (301-288=589) and a six-stroke advantage over sixth-place Minnesota (297-294=591).
ECU junior Matt Kocolowski is tied for 23rd at 4-over (77-71=148) with senior David Watkins (78-72=150) and sophomore Ryan Eibner (76-74=150) tied for 29th at 6-over. Senior Adam Stephenson rounded out the Pirates' lineup with an 8-over (76-76=152).
The Pirates will begin the final round of play tomorrow at 8:18 from the first tee, playing alongside individuals from Georgia State and Minnesota.
