TEAM NOTES
• ECU posted its 15th win of the season, its most since winning 17 games during the 1996-97 season.
• The Pirates earned their seventh Conference USA win of the season, besting its previous top C-USA win total by two.
• ECU won its third C-USA road game of the year, tying the school-record for most Conference USA road wins in a season, set last season.
• East Carolina won for the third time in its last four games AT Rice. The Pirates also tied the all-time series with the Owls at 5-5.
• The Pirates' 43 first-half points were the most scored in the first half of a Conference USA game this season.
• ECU made a season-high 14 3-point field goals.
• The Pirates improved to 3-3 in games decided by three points or less this season.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
• Sophomore Corvonn Gaines grabbed a career-high seven rebounds, besting his previous career-high of six.
• Senior Brock Young dished out a season-best nine assists and didn't commit a turnover for a third consecutive game. Young has 595 career assists and is just five shy from becoming the sixth player in C-USA history with 600 helpers.
• Senior Jamar Abrams led East Carolina in scoring for a second straight game with 18 points and made made five 3s for a second consecutive game.
• Senior Jontae Sherrod made five 3-pointers in a game for the fourth time this season.
• Junior Darrius Morrow set the ECU career record for free throws made with his 525 attempt, breaking the record of 521 set by Jerry Woodside from 1963-66.
• Sophomore Erin Straughn scored double figures for the fifth time this season. ECU is 4-1 in those games.
