GREENVILLE, N.C. --- East Carolina senior Jontae Sherrod has been selected third-team All-Conference USA as voted upon by the league's 12 head coaches and a selected panel of media members. Sherrod is the third ECU player to earn all-league accolades during its 10-year C-USA membership.
Sherrod finished the regular season ranked eighth in the conference in scoring (15.6 ppg) as well as free throw percentage (.799) and 3-point field goal percentage (.393). His 2.1 3-point field goals per game average ranked as fifth-highest in C-USA.
The Tarboro, N.C. native has led the Pirates in scoring 15 times this season with his team winning 10 of those games. In those 15 games, Sherrod scored over 20 points eight times with ECU winning six of those contests.
In his final game inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum, Sherrod scored a career-high 28 points to help the Pirates secure their first winning-season in 14 years and post their first-ever victory over Memphis.
Eighth-seeded East Carolina will open up the 2011 Buick Conference USA Championship against ninth-seeded UCF Wednesday at 1 p.m. EST. The Pirates swept two-game season-series from the Knights.
