TEAM NOTES

ECU posted its first-ever Conference USA Tournament victory and its first in a conference tournament of any setting since 1996, when it beat American University in the first round of the CAA Championship.

East Carolina swept three games from the Knights this season, winning 74-62 in Orlando on Jan.19 and 68-61 in Greenville on Feb. 5.

Its the first time the Pirates have ever beaten a C-USA team three times in a season; in fact there have been only three occurrences where they defeated a team twice in a campaign (USF in 2003-04; Rice in 2007-08; Tulane in 2009-10).

The Pirates have won five of their last seven games against UCF.

The Pirates are now 1-7 all-time in C-USA Tournament games.

The Pirates have won four of their last five games. East Carolina won its 17th game of the year, its most since winning 17 during the 1996-97 season. The last time ECU won more than 17 games in a season was 1994-95 (18-11 mark).

The Pirates made 10 three pointers in a game for the fifth time this season and for the third time versus a C-USA foe (14 at Rice on Feb. 26, 10 at UCF on Jan. 19). ECU was also 10-for-17 from three point range at UCF on Jan. 19 and in three games versus the Pirates buried 29-of-59 trifectas (.492).

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

In three games versus UCF this season, junior forward Darrius Morrow totaled 47 points and 24 rebounds, making 18-of-33 shots. Morrow registered his second double-double of the season. He had 13 points and 10 boards versus Charlotte on Dec. 1.

Senior Jamar Abrams buried 4-of-5 3-pointers to move into a tie for fifth-place on the school's single season list (64). It was the fifth time this season that he's made at least four 3s in a game.Abrams is 20-for-38 behind the arc the last five games.

Senior guard Brock Young's five steals were a season-high and the second-most in his career. He had six takeaways versus South Dakota State on Dec. 23, 2009. Five steals brings his career tally to 153, third player in ECU hsitory with over 150 steals.

Freshman Robert Sampson scored a career-high 12 points, making a career-best three 3-pointers.
