GREENVILLE, N.C. - The threat of inclement weather in eastern North Carolina this weekend has forced a change to the schedule for the East Carolina Classic as university officials continue to monitor the progress of Hurricane Irene.
The event has been reduced to three matches, all occurring Friday at Minges Coliseum. No contests are scheduled for Saturday. The Pirates and Gardner-Webb will square off at 2 p.m. while the Bulldogs and Presbyterian battle at 5 p.m. East Carolina and the Blue Hose will end tournament play at 8 p.m.
Florida Atlantic was originally slated to travel to North Carolina for the event but will now remain in the Sunshine State and look for alternate weekend opponents. Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian have stated their intention to participate as originally planned.
Fans should continue to monitor www.ECUPirates.com for any further schedule changes.
