DAUFUSKIE, S.C. --- The East Carolina men's golf team sits in fourth-place after the first two rounds of the Rees Jones Invitational at the Haig Point Golf Club. The Pirates finished the day with a combined score of 25-over 601 (298-303).
Liberty was the only team to shoot under-par Monday, firing a 2-under 574 (284-290) to lead the field by 17 strokes. South Carolina is in second-place at 15-over 591 (295-296), followed by Winthrop in third-place at 18-over 594 (293-301).
A trio of Pirates are currently among the top-20 individuals after 36 holes. Junior Ryan Eibner and freshman Jacob Hicks are tied for 13th at 6-over. Eibner shot 5-over in the first round and 1-over in round two. Hicks carded a 2-over on the opening 18 holes then shot 4-over in the second round. Senior Zach Edmondson is tied for 19th at 7-over 151 (73-78).
ECU freshman Stephen Lavenets is one stroke behind his upperclassman teammate and tied for 23rd at 8-over 152 (74-78). Eric Brady fired a 10-over 154 (78-76) to tie for 31st. Matt Kocolowski, playing as an individual, is tied for 48th at 17-over 161 (80-81).
Liberty's Ian McConnell owns the overall individual lead at 2-under 142 (68-74), one stroke ahead of his teammate Niklas Lindstrom (73-70=143) and two in front of a pair of even-par players.
The final round of the Rees Jones Invitational begins Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. ECU will play alongside Charlotte and Kennesaw State.
