GREENVILLE, N.C. - With the start of the Pirates' 2012 football campaign just under two weeks away, the East Carolina University Athletics Department announced that season ticket packages to see all six home games can still be purchased through Friday, Aug. 24.
As of Monday, season ticket sales currently stand at 21,225 - marking the sixth-straight year the Pirates have topped the 20,000 mark in season tickets. Season packages can be purchased for as low as $150 each via www.ECUPirates.com or by calling the ECU Athletics Ticket Office at (252) 737-4500. More information is also available by following ECU Athletic Ticketing and Marketing on Twitter @ecutix or on Facebook via Peedees Promos.
ECU's Athletic Ticket Office is also offering a three-game football mini pack that allows fans to choose any three games to attend for $99. Tickets to watch individual contests are also still available and can be purchased through the ticket office.
Under head coach Ruffin McNeill, East Carolina set new school records during the 2011 campaign in total attendance (300,069) and average attendance (50,012), besting the previous marks of 297,987 and 49,665 - both set in 2010.
In addition to topping Conference USA in average attendance for the fourth-straight season, ECU stood first nationally among all non-automatic qualifiers in the Bowl Championship Series in 2011 and ranked 40th among all 120 FBS programs.
The Pirates will kick off 2012 on Sept. 1 inside ECU's 50,000-seat facility by renewing an in-state football rivalry with Appalachian State that covers 30 games and spans 80 years. Also scheduled to visit Greenville this fall are C-USA members UTEP (Sept. 29), Memphis (Oct. 13), Houston (Nov. 3) and Marshall (Nov. 23). East Carolina wraps up non-conference play by hosting Navy on Oct. 27. The Pirates will try to even the four-game series after downing the Midshipmen 38-35 in Annapolis a year ago.
