
East Carolina Volleyball Heads North for Milwaukee Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's volleyball team will travel to Milwaukee, Wisc., for its first road tournament of the 2012 campaign. The Pirates will kick off the Milwaukee Invitational against Southeast Missouri on Friday, Aug. 31, at 5:30 p.m., and will conclude the tournament against Bradley and host Milwaukee on Saturday, Sept. 1, at 12 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.
The Pirates are coming off a 1-2 opening weekend tournament after dropping a pair of matches to Campbell (2-3) and Charlotte (1-3), and defeating Bethune-Cookman (3-1) at Minges Coliseum at the East Carolina Classic. Over the weekend, junior Shelby Beasley was named to the All-Tournament Team after amassing 49 digs and three service aces. Junior transfer Nicole Willis turned in an excellent performance notching 30 kills versus Campbell to open the season with a double-double (30 kills, 15 digs).
East Carolina will face Southeast Missouri of the Ohio Valley Conference for just the second time in school history and are looking to even the series at one win apiece. The Pirates will go up against Bradley of the Missouri Valley Conference and Milwaukee of the Horizon League for the first time ever.
