ECU Face No. 2 Seeded Duke For A Trip To MSG
- Following its 17-point come-from-behind victory over Norfolk State last night, East Carolina will face second-seeded Duke in the championship game of the NIT Tip-Off East Regional Tuesday at 6 p.m. The winner advances to the semifinals next week at Madison Square Garden in New York.
- The Pirates have won nine straight games dating back to last season, the second longest streak in the nation along with Baylor, behind Louisville (19) The nine-game winning streak is the longest in school history as a Division I member and its longest since winning 16 straight during the 1953-54 season.
- Tuesday's game is the first meeting between East Carolina and Duke since 1991. The two teams played 20 times between 1969-71, including 11 consecutive seasons from 1981-91. The Pirates are 0-20 against Duke, which has been ranked in the top 15 in eight of those games. ECU seniors Akeem Richmond and Petar Torlak were each seven months old the last time ECU played Duke on the hardwood (11-25-91).
- ECU Head Coach Jeff Lebo was 5-5 against Duke as a four-year letterman at North Carolina (`1985-89), including a 2-2 record at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Lebo has never matched up with the Blue Devils as a coach.
- The Pirates will be looking for their first-ever road win over a top 10 team (0-45). ECU hasn't beaten a ranked team since Dec. 30, 2002 when it knocked off No. 13 Marquette led by Dwayne Wade at home. ECU has lost 19 straight games to ranked foes.
- East Carolina is looking for its second consecutive 5-0 start under coach Jeff Lebo. The Pirates have just four previous 4-0 starts under coaches prior to Lebo.

- Senior Akeem Richmond is the only player to score double figures in all four games this season. The Sanford, N.C. native led the Pirates in scoring against UNCG (19) and Chowan (15).
