
ECU Will Host Rider In CIT Second Round

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- The East Carolina men's basketball team will face Rider in the second round of the 2013 CollegeInsiders.com Postseason Tournament Saturday at 5 p.m. inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
The Pirates (19-12) advanced to round two with a 66-65 win over Savannah State at home Tuesday night, while the Broncs (19-14) picked up a 63-54 win at Hartford the same night.
Rider, which is making its fourth postseason appearance in the last six years, finished tied for second in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with a 12-6 conference ledger. Second-team All-MAAC guard Jonathon Thompson (12.8 ppg, 3.7 rpg) leads the Broncs along with third-team all-conference selections Anthony Myles (4.6 ppg, 1.7 apg) and Daniel Stewart (10.9 ppg, 7.3 rpg).
The Pirates will be facing the nation's eighth-ranked 3-point field goal defensive team (.291) Saturday after facing the NCAA leader, Savannah State, on Tuesday.
ECU is making its second appearance in the CIT in the last three years after making just three postseason appearances in the previous 38 years. The Pirates had never won a Division I postseason tournament game before Tuesday night in four previous appearances.
Senior Maurice Kemp leads the Pirates in scoring with 18.7 points per game with senior Miguel Paul (13.1 ppg) and junior Akeem Richmond (11.4 ppg) also averaging double figures. The Pirates rank 17th in the country in scoring (76.6 ppg) and second in assists (17.4), led by Paul's Conference USA-best 6.97 assists per game.
Reserved tickets for Saturday's second round game are $15 for adults and $10 for youth 17 and under. Season ticket holders have until 5 p.m. Thursday to purchase their same season ticket location.
Fans may purchase tickets online at the Online Ticket Center or through the ECU Athletics Ticket Office by telephone and in person. The ticket office is located off Berkley Dr., behind Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium and open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Telephone purchases can be made by calling 800-DIAL-ECU (342-5328) or locally at 252-737-4500.
Parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis in the Blue, Gold, Gray, Silver and White parking lots. The Purple Lot is reserved for tournament staff.
ECU Student tickets are available for $5 (a limit of one at this rate). Students may pick up their tickets beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Minges Coliseum Box Office. Additional guest tickets can be purchased for $15.
