East Carolina Set To Open Fall Team Practice Friday Afternoon

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina first-year head baseball coach Cliff Godwin has announced the team's upcoming fall schedule, which includes the program's annual Purple & Gold World Series.
The Pirates, who began individual fall workouts in late August, are scheduled to start team practice on Friday, Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. (ET) followed by a four-inning scrimmage around 5:30 p.m., which is open to the public. ECU will also conduct practice sessions on Saturday, Oct. 4 (5 p.m.) and Sunday, Oct. 5 (1 p.m.) with abbreviated open scrimmages following at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Saturday and 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
East Carolina's annual fall intra-squad competition, the Purple & Gold World Series, begins Nov. 6 at Clark-LeClair Stadium. The three-game series is free of charge to the fans and will conclude on Nov. 8.
The Pirates return 16 letterwinners including 2014 All-Conference USA Freshman Team selections Bryce Harman and Charlie Yorgen, as well as 2013 All C-USA performers David Lucroy and Travis Watkins.
Also stepping onto the diamond are 13 newcomers, which consist of four junior college transfers in Jimmy Boyd (Brunswick CC), Parker Lamm (Pitt CC), Jeff Nelson (Pierce College) and Tyler Strawn (Laney College).
East Carolina also welcomes eight true freshmen and one sophomore in Ryan Clinch, Ross Gardner, Joe Ingle, Mason Keen, Jackson Mims, Jack Owens, Chris Perry, Bailey Sugg and Evan Voliva to go along with three redshirts from a year ago in T.J. McDonald, Brandon Saunders and Cameron Snow.
