Setting The Scene
? East Carolina will take on Hawaii in the fifth-place game of the 2014 Gulf Coast Showcase Wednesday afternoon.
? Tip-off is scheduled for approximately 2:30 p.m. at the Germain Arena. The game will be broadcast on-line on AmericanOneSports.com. It can also be heard on the Pirate IMG Sports Network.
? The Pirates are looking back-to-back wins for the first time this season and finishing the event with a 3-1 overall record after posting wins over N.C. Wesleyan and Fresno State.
Last Time Out
? Freshman B.J. Tyson scored 22 points, including 15 in the second half, to lead East Carolina past Fresno State Tuesday, 58-52. Tyson made 11-of-11 free throws to tie the ECU freshman record for free throws made without a miss.
? Caleb White added 16 points in the victory and Michael Zangari posted his second career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
? ECU outscored Fresno State 22-5 over an eight-stretch in the first half to build a 13-point lead and hold a nine-point advantage at halftime.
? ECU made 15 of 20 free throws in the second half, while the Bulldogs made 15 of 16. The Pirates held a 33-30 advantage on the boards and outscored Fresno 26-14 in the paint.
? The Pirates' 58 points tied for the fewest in a victory under coach Jeff Lebo. They also scored 58 in a win over NC Central in 2011.

? Caleb White has scored 494 points in 39 career games at ECU and is six points shy of 500.
? B.J. Tyson, Terry Whisnant and Caleb White have account for 56.8 percent of the Pirates' offense this season. the trio has combined to score 214 of their 377 points.
? The Pirates have shot over 70 percent from the free throw line just once this season, connecting on 78.3 percent (36-46) of its attempts vs. NC Wesleyan. ECU is 63-of-105 (.600) the past four games.
? East Carolina is just 8-of-34 from outside the 3-point arc during the Gulf Coast Showcase. The Pirates were 4-of-18 against Green Bay and 4-of-16 versus Fresno State.
? Terry Whisnant (10) and Caleb White (9) have combined to make 79.1 percent of the Pirates' 3s this season (24).
? The Pirates have had one 20-point scorer in four of the first five games. B.J. Tyson has scored more than 20 twice, while Caleb White and Terry Whisnant have done it once each. Tyson and Whisnant have led ECU in scoring twice apiece with White leading it once.
? In their three wins, the Pirates have led for more than 110 minutes. They led from start to finish against NC Wesleyan and Virginia-Lynchburg and were in front for 32:03 against Fresno State.

? After the tournament is over, the Pirates will return to action at home on Sunday, Nov. 30, against Central Connecticut State. It'll be the first meeting between the two since 1987. ECU leads the series 2-1.
? East Carolina will be back in the Sunshine State in a week as they return to take on Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton on Dec. 4. The Owls defeated the Pirates 78-67 at FAU last season.
