GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina sophomore inside receiver Isaiah Jones has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 3 First-Team, according to an announcement Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Jones, a communications major with a 3.58 cumulative grade-point average (GPA), has appeared in all eight games making five starts. He ranks second on the team in receptions (55) and receiving yards (575) behind Justin Hardy, and is tied for second in receiving scores (four). Currently Jones ranks 18th nationally (third in American Athletic Conference) with 6.9 receptions per game.
In the season opener against N.C. Central, Jones established new career standards with 10 catches for 150 yards, while hauling down a 41-yard TD pass from Hardy in the second quarter. The Austin, Texas native has posted three 100-yard receiving efforts on the year (150/NCCU, 116/UNC, 130/SMU), while adding his second career double-digit reception game against UConn (10) in league play.
In the classroom, he earned ECU Honor Roll (2013 fall semester) and Dean's List (2014 spring semester) status, while also taking home 2013-14 Conference USA Commissioner Honor Roll accolades.
By making the first-team, Jones is now eligible for Capital One Academic All-America honors.
