MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
? East Carolina and James Madison met for the 45th time Saturday since their first meeting 35 years earlier. The Pirates improved to 12-33 all-time against the Dukes and snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Dukes.
? East Carolina's last victory over James Madison was Jan. 7, 1998 in Harrisonburg, Va., 90-60.
? East Carolina defeated James Madison at home for the first time since Feb. 6, 1993 to snap an eight-game losing streak to the Dukes at Minges Coliseum.
? ECU improved 3-0 all-time on dates with consecutive numbers. The Pirates defeated USF, 59-57, on 1-2-03 and UNCG, 85-84, on 11-12-13.
? East Carolina improved to 35-9 at home against non-conference opponents since the 2010-11 season.
TEAM NOTES
? The Pirates improved to 5-1 this season when shooting at least 50 percent during one half of the game. ECU shot 54.2 percent from the floor in the second half.
? East Carolina over came a halftime deficit for the first time this season. The Pirates were 0-5 when trailing at halftime this year before rallying from a 28-25 deficit at the break. Their 11-point first half deficit was also the largest deficit overcome this year.
? East Carolina plus-12 advantage on the boards was its largest rebounding margin of the season against a Division I opponent.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
? Terry Whisnant posted the second 20-point game of his career, and the season, scoring a career-high 24 points. His previous top scoring performance was earlier this season against Green Bay with 23 points.
? Whisnant grabbed a career-high seven rebounds, best his previous high of five against South Alabama while at Florida State (11/20/11).
? B.J. Tyson scored double figures for the sixth straight game, the longest such streak any any Pirate this season. He finished with 14 points.
? Caleb White scored all 16 of his points in the second half. He made 4-of-5 field goals, 2-of-2 3s and 6-of-8 free throws.
? Michael Zangari grabbed double digit rebounds for the second time this season, finishing with 10 rebounds. He also had 10 rebounds in the win over Fresno State. It was the fifth double digit rebounding of the game.
? Marshall Guilmette made his return from injury, seeing his first action since Nov. 16 against UNC Asheville. Guilmette grabbed one rebound in six minutes of action.
