Setting The Scene
? East Carolina will look to wins its fourth straight game inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum when it welcomes Florida A&M for a pre-Christmas contest Monday night at 7 p.m.
? Monday's game marks the start of a three-game homestand. After playing FAMU, the Pirates will welcome UNCG on Sunday, Dec. 28, and then open American Athletic Conference play on New Year's Eve against Tulane.
? The Pirates are coming off a 66-54 loss at UNCW on Saturday night, while the Rattlers suffered an 83-65 loss to North Florida on Friday night.
? Junior Terry Whisnant has scored double figures in three consecutive games, averaging 19.0 points per game.
? Senior Paris Roberts-Campbell made his season debut on Saturday against UNCW after missing the first 10 games with a knee injury. He scored 11 points, grabbed four rebounds and collected a pair of steals in 24 minutes of action.
? Freshman B.J. Tyson was held under double figures for the first time since Nov. 30 Saturday night, scoring just six points against UNCW.
? East Carolina ranks 40th in the nation in free throws made with 186. .
Scouting The Rattlers
? Florida A&M will be playings its eighth true road game of the season and 10th overall away from home. The Rattlers lone home game was this past Friday against North Florida.
? The Rattlers will be without Jorge Rosa, Quentin Bastian and Mark Davis for academic reasons. Rosa and Bastian are the team's second and third leading scorers.
? Florida A&M has five players that are eithe junior college of Division I transfers. Junior point guard Jerran Foster is a native of Winston-Salem, N.C. and is a transfer from Brunswick Community College in Leland, N.C.
? The Rattlers were held under 50 points or fewer in six of their first seven games, but have scored 56 or more in each of the last three, including 60-plus in each of the last two.
? Jermaine Ruttley is the Rattlers' leading scorer at 12.6 ppg. Ruttley has led FAMU in scoring six times this season and has registered a pair of 20-point games.
? Florida A&M ranks 344 out of 355 NCAA Division I teams with 50.6 ppg. The Rattlers also rank 325th, allowing 75.4 ppg. ECU allows 70.1 ppg, which ranks 257th.
Series History
? Monday's game will be the first meeting between ECU and Florida A&M since Dec, 26, 1969 (ECU 71, FAMU 57).
? East Carolina has won eight straight games against current members of the MEAC and owns an all-time record versus the conference.
