GREENVILLE, N.C. - Seventeen East Carolina baseball players have been named to the Fall 2014 ECU Director of Athletics Honor Roll, while helping the squad to a program-best 3.05 cumulative grade point average - it's highest since the Spring of 2011 (2.99) head coach Cliff Godwin announced Friday.
Since first tracking team GPA's in the Fall of 2003, the baseball team has reached the 2.90 GPA mark eight times, but never topped 3.0 until this semester.
Of it's 31 players on the active roster, 17 Pirates earned Honor Roll status (3.0 or higher) with nine landing on the Dean's List (3.5 or higher). It is the ninth time since the Spring of 1999 that 17 or more student-athletes have made the Honor Roll.
"We are very proud of the hard work our guys demonstrated in the classroom this semester," Godwin said. "Our players know how important academics are to me and our program. They have shown their commitment to being a well-rounded student-athlete at East Carolina with their success on and off the field this semester!"
