Setting The Scene
? After posting a 75-57 home victory Monday over Florida A&M and enjoying a couple of days at home for Christmas, the East Carolina men's basketball team will be back in action Sunday, Dec. 28 when the Pirates play host to UNCG.
? Sunday's game is the Pirates' final non-conference game of the season. A win would give ECU a winning non-conference slate for the fifth consecutive season under coach Jeff Lebo.
? The Pirates are looking to avoid going 0-for-UNC system schools this season. ECU has already lost games to sister schools: North Carolina, UNC Asheville and UNCW this year.
? East Carolina is 5-1 at home this season and has won four in a row inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. UNCG is 2-4 away from the Greensboro Coliseum, but has true road victories over Presbyterian and East Tennessee State.
? East Carolina is 36-9 at home against non-conference opponents since 2010-11 under coach Lebo, including a 76-73 win over UNCG in 2012.
? The Pirates are playing on Sunday for the fourth time this season and own are 1-2 record in previous games, defeating Central Connecticut State, while falling to UNC Asheville and at North Carolina.
? East Carolina has rallied from a halftime deficit to win each of its last two home games. The Pirates trailed James Madison by three at the break and came back to win by 12. They were also down by two to Florida A&M at intermission and ended up winning by 18.

East Carolina-UNCG Connections
? ECU Head Coach Jeff Lebo and UNCG Coach Wes Miller were both basketball lettermen at North Carolina. Lebo played from 1985-89, while Miller was a member of the Tar Heels from 2004-07.
? UNCG senior Jamal Mitchell played two years at Gardner-Webb, while ECU Assistant Coach Mike Netti was a member of the coaching staff.
? ECU junior Kanu Aja and UNCG junior Kayel Locke are both natives of Baltimore, Md.
Series History
? The Pirates have won seven straight games in the series with UNCG and hold a 10-2 advantage all-time over the Spartans.
? The two met twice in the late 1980s, but didn't play again until the turn of the millennium. After winning the initial game in the renewal of the series, ECU dropped the next two before embarking on its current winning streak.
? East Carolina is 5-1 at home against UNCG. It's lone loss inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum was in 2005, 78-70.
Next Game
? Sunday's game marks the first of three games in seven days for East Carolina. ECU will play its inaugural American Athletic Conference game at home on Wednesday, Jan. 31, against Tulane then head to Tampa for its first American road game at USF on Saturday, Jan. 3.
