ECU, Tulane Postgame Quotes
December 31, 2014 | Men's Basketball
East Carolina Head Coach Jeff Lebo
Opening Statement
"Give Tulane credit. I thought (Jonathan) Stark was unbelievable today. He made bombs. He comes in the game shooting 8-of-30 from three and he made four with the shot clock expiring, like, Hail Mary's. They had some guys make some shots and (Kajon) Mack comes into the game 3-of-13, makes two three's. (Louis) Dabney and Stark, I thought, were terrific. We did a good job on (Jay) Hook. He never really got into the game."
On the Pirates' inside game
"We didn't get much inside at all during the game. That's going to be an issue for us. That's not going to go away. We've got to be able to throw the ball to the side, catch it, score or get fouled, and we had seven turnovers in the last eight minutes, most of them trying to beat the post. We've got to be able to catch balls in traffic. We've got to be able to deliver balls in traffic. We've got to be able to make tough plays amongst bodies and we didn't do that there."
On the technical foul called on Caleb White
"Obviously a big play in the second half that didn't go our way with the technical foul on Caleb (White) that led to a five-point play. They made two foul shots after the three and we were down one at that point. That five-point play put the fourth foul on Caleb who had just made three three's in the game. So that was one that didn't go in our favor. That that call obviously changed the game."
"I saw it. He kind of was running and popped the ball back and happened to hit the kid from Tulane who was boxing him out. That was what I saw."
Tulane Head Coach Ed Conroy
On the game's many runs from both teams "I told our staff before the game that there would be a lot of runs in the game. I had no idea how prolific my statement would be. After the first half, I felt like there was enough offensive fire power out there. Both teams had some good runs and did a good job."
On the technical foul on Caleb White
"To be honest, I had no idea what happened. I had my back turned, I was getting a sub in."
Senior guard Paris Roberts-Campbell
On Tulane's 25-2 run to close out the first half
"We were just turning the ball over and I think, other than the Carolina game, that's the first time we've really seen a run like that. We still have a pretty new team and I think they just kind of stunned us when they kept scoring and we couldn't get a score."
On Tulane hitting big shots
"Every shot they hit down the stretch were daggers. It seemed like we just couldn't get the lead. We came within one, then we got hit with the technical foul, then we got within one and they hit a three. They were just all daggers. We couldn't get over the hump."
