
Bigger Named Walter Camp Defensive Player-of-the-Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Following East Carolina's impressive 70-41 win over instate rival North Carolina Saturday afternoon, junior Zeek Bigger has been named the Walter Camp Football Foundation FBS National Defensive Player-of-the-Week.
Bigger recorded a career-best 17 tackles (seven solo) and returned an interception 46 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter, which capped a 28-0 run turning UNC's 20-14 lead into an East Carolina 42-20 advantage.
The Gastonia, N.C. native has posted double-digit tackles in all four contests this season setting new career-highs in each game. Currently he leads the Pirates with 54 stops (22 solo), while ranking second in The American and fourth nationally.
Bigger, who tallied 11 stops in the first half, is the first East Carolina player to earn Walter Camp Player-of-the-Week honors.
The Pirates (3-1) will enjoy a bye week this Saturday, but will return to action on Oct. 4 when they play host to SMU in their Inaugural American Athletic Conference contest. Game time has yet to be determined.
