SMU-East Carolina Kickoff Time Set For 12 Noon

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The kickoff time for East Carolina's inaugural American Athletic Conference contest against SMU, scheduled for Oct. 4 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, has been set for 12 noon (ET) to accommodate a live ESPNU national television broadcast according to an announcement from network and league officials Saturday.
The Pirates' conference opener marks the fifth-straight game on ECU's 2014 schedule which has been designated for national airing thus far, joining North Carolina Central (ESPNews), South Carolina (ESPNU), Virginia Tech (ESPN) and North Carolina (ESPNU).
East Carolina, currently ranked No. 23 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, is off this weekend after moving its record to 3-1 by downing North Carolina 70-41 on Sept. 20.
SMU dropped to 0-4 under interim head coach Tom Mason after suffering a 56-0 home setback to TCU on Saturday. Mason was appointed to his current position on Sept. 8 after the resignation of June Jones.
While the two programs have split its four-game series, the Mustangs have won the last two meetings - including a 45-38 overtime decision at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium during the 2010 regular season finale.
