January 08, 2015 | Baseball
GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina baseball fans will get their first chance to meet the 2015 Pirates up close and personal on Saturday, Jan. 31 as ECU will host "An Evening With The Pirates" at Harvey Hall inside the Murphy Center.
The event, formerly known as Meet the Pirates, has been enhanced to an evening setting starting at approximately 6 p.m. and allows fans a chance to get autographs and photos of the players and first-year head coach Cliff Godwin.
"I'm really excited about the `Evening With the Pirates' event," Godwin said. "This is a great opportunity for the coaches and players to sit down with our fans and talk baseball. It's going to be extra special for me with the LeClair family (Lynn, J.D. and Audrey), some of my former teammates, former Pirate letterwinners and recipients of the honorary No. 23 jersey in attendance."
Pirate fans, coaches, players and ECU dignitaries will enjoy a sit-down dinner that includes: mixed greens w/house vinaigrette, fried chicken & smoked pork loin, roasted new potatoes, vegetable medley, buttermilk biscuits & rolls, fresh fruit salad, peach cobbler, cookies & brownies.
During the event, the 13th recipient of the honorary No. 23 jersey, which was the number worn by Coach LeClair throughout his coaching and playing career, will also be unveiled to the Pirate Nation. Prior recipients include Ben Sanderson (2003), Jamie Paige (2004), Brian Cavanaugh (2005), Adam Witter (2006), Chris Powell (2007), Drew Schieber (2008), Brandon Henderson (2009), two-time honoree Austin Homan (2010-11), Timothy Younger (2012), Jay Cannon (2013) and Ryan Williams (2014).
A limited number of tickets are available at $25 per person and advance reservations are required. Doors will open for those attending at 5:30 p.m., to allow time for seating. Schedule cards, posters, rosters, Pirate merchandise and ticket information (renewals and ordering) will be available in the lobby area when doors open.
