Postgame Quotes vs. FAU
December 01, 2015 | Men's Basketball
East Carolina Head Coach Jeff Lebo
Opening statement
"Coming from the west coast I thought we looked fresh, I thought we played with energy, played with enthusiasm. We got a lot of good play off our bench and we were really solid with our zone defensively in the first half."
On Grant Bryant
"Without Michel (Nzege) playing with the ankle injury Grant Bryant did a great job for us. [He's] a guy that's really worked hard. He didn't play a lot last year, hasn't played much this year, but his attitude has been good… and he's gotten better. He was rewarded tonight and that was nice to see. Our players were really happy for him along with our coaches."
"He does what he does. He can drive it. He's got some quickness. He's gotten stronger and is able to play more with contact. He's pretty good in the high post. He understands who he is and what is; I thought he did a great job tonight playing to his ability and what he does."
On B.J. Tyson's recent performances
"He's playing better and gaining some confidence. He took the ball well to the basket tonight; finished with his right hand, which was nice to see. He's worked really hard on using the correct hand."
Sophomore Grant Bryant
On his performance
"Obviously Ziggy didn't play so it was a good opportunity to prove myself on the floor, earn Coach Lebo's trust and show that I can play defense, score the ball, and execute; it was a good team win overall."
"He told me I was going to get some of Ziggy's minutes so when [I] get on the court play [my] game, play confident, just ball out and that's what I did. I played with confidence."
On waiting for his opportunity
"I wasn't trying to get down on myself and be negative about things. I'm just trying to be positive in practice and continuing to work hard and prove myself everyday in practice to show that I can play."
Sophomore B.J. Tyson
On Grant Bryant's performance
"I'm proud of him. I have been waiting for that opportunity for the longest. Nobody sees it but behind closed doors this man is fighting, he's working his tail off in practice and I'm glad he got the opportunity to show that he can fight, show that he can execute and rebound."
On his recent play
"It feels great! But I just want to give credit to Coach Lebo and Coach [Mike] Netti for staying with me through the whole thing. The first couple games were rough, not seeing it go in, but now [the basket is] starting to get bigger. I worked on my shot everyday, before practice and after practice so its starting to come along."
