December 21, 2015 | Men's Basketball
GREENVILLE, N.C. --- East Carolina will wrap up its non-conference season Tuesday, Dec. 22, when it welcomes South Carolina State to Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum for its final game of 2015. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and lower level tickets are available for $5 as part of the Holiday Hoops promotion.
Tuesday's game will be broadcast on ="">ESPN3 and can be heard across the Pirate-IMG Sports Network on WNCT 107.9 FM locally, with the "Voice of the Pirates" Jeff Charles and Si Seymour calling all the action. Fans can follow along with live scoring on Gametracker. Game updates will be available on Twitter via @ECUScoreboard.
The Pirates will be looking to extend their non-conference homecourt-winning streak to 12 games Tuesday, while the Bulldogs will be trying to score their second road win of the year.
Both teams are coming off losses over the weekend. East Carolina (7-5) suffered a six-point defeat at James Madison on Sunday, one day after S.C. State (5-7) lost by 19 at St. Bonaventure.
ECU junior Caleb White, who was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll Monday, buried a career-high six 3-pointers en route to his fourth 20-point game of the season Sunday and moved within a baker's dozen of 1,000 points for his career. Senior Kanu Aja posted career-bests for points (12) and rebounds (9) in the loss to the Dukes.
Although road victories continue to elude them, the Pirates are a perfect 6-0 at home this season and have beaten four teams by double digits. They are outscoring their opponents by more than 12 points per game and have been to the free throw line an astounding 99 more times than their opponents inside Williams Arena.
Despite having one of the worst shooting performances of his career Sunday, sophomore B.J. Tyson continues to lead East Carolina in scoring with 14.5 points per game, seventh-highest average in The American. White (13.4) and freshman Kentrell Barkley (10.2) are also averaging double figures.
S.C. State has a trio of players averaging double figures as well led by Eric Eaves at 14.5 points per game followed by Ed Stephens (13.8) and Gabriel McCray (10.8). The Bulldogs have scored more than 80 points five times this season and are averaging 72.6 points per game, two points more than ECU.
