
B.J. Tyson Named To American Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - East Carolina sophomore B.J. Tyson was named to the American Athletic Conference men's basketball weekly honor roll after averaging 20.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in leading the Pirates to a pair of home wins last week.
The Anson, N.C. native led the Pirates with a career-high 26 points against USC Upstate on Friday, going 9-of-12 from the field and 8-of-8 at the free throw line. It was his second 20-point performance of the season and seventh of his career. Earlier in the week against Florida Atlantic, Tyson grabbed a career-best nine rebounds to go along with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting.
He finished the week 16-of-21 from the floor and 9-of-10 at the free throw line, leading the Pirates in scoring each game.
Joining Tyson on this week's honor roll are Cincinnati's Octavius Ellis, Memphis' Shaq Goodwin and Dedric Lawson and Nic Moore of SMU. Devonta Pollard of Houston was named American Player-of-the-Week and Tacko Fall of UCF claimed Freshman-of-the-Week honors.
Winners of three in a row, East Carolina returns to the hardwood Monday night in Charleston, S.C. to face the College of Charleston Cougars. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. at TD Arena.
