East Carolina Head Coach Jeff Lebo
Opening statement
"It was a good effort, but obviously the difference maker was the second half with [Amida Brimah] in the middle. He totally affected the game in all areas. Luckily he didn't play much the first half with fouls, but he's good a shot blocker I've seen, he took away points that we had, blocked some shots that were at the peak, two feet over the top of the rim. Defensively we had winning numbers ... but offensively we did not shoot the ball very well from the perimeter. When Brimah's in the game you have to shoot well from the perimeter and we had no one shoot it very well from outside this game. We needed to be 8 of 20, 9 of 20 this game."
On Marhsall Guilmette's performance
"He was scoring the ball, but he was scoring without Brimah in there. We needed him to make some 3s, that would've been helpful. He got some good looks in the second half that he didn't make. He really was shooting it well in practice but you've got to be able to make it. He's a weapon if he can shoot it consistently from 3 when he plays the center spot.He was 1 of 5 from 3, but he did some good things; 13 points, seven rebounds and he's starting to get a little bit better."
UConn Head Coach Kevin Ollie
On the Huskies' second half defense
"We played UConn defense in the second half. We held them to 16 points and 19 percent shooting and Amida (Brimah) was great again. I think all of our guys locked in, switched and talked and we just made stops. They were 3 of 20 from the 3-point line, and I think a lot of those were contested. Our guys really went out and challenged their shots."
On center Amida Brimah
"He is huge and we need him to stay on the basketball court, we don't need him to foul. Some of the fouls are just the guards blowing by and it is not Amida's fault. He just does a wonderful job and he is an amazing shot blocker. He is just getting better and better."
On the East Carolina basketball program
"We love Jeff Lebo and we know what he is doing here. They are a great addition to our conference and hopefully they continue to play well."
