MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
? This is the second consecutive year the Pirates have won their conference tournament opener. East Carolina defeated UTSA 79-76 to open the 2014 Conference USA Championship in El Paso, Texas.
? ECU is 4-0 in first round tournament games under coach Jeff Lebo. The only time the Pirates lost their opening tournament game was in 2013 when they received a bye into the quarterfinals and lost to host Tulsa in the Conference USA Championships at the BOK Center in Tulsa.
? The Pirates improved to 2-1 all-time as the No. 8 seed playing the No. 9 seed with both wins coming over UCF. ECU won the eight-nine matchup with the Knights at the 2011 C-USA Championships in El Paso.
? ECU swept the three-game season series from UCF for the second time. The Pirates won both regular season meeting games against the Knights in 2011 before defeating them in the first round of the C-USA Championships.
? The Pirates won their third straight game over UCF and posted its eighth win in the last seven 11 meetings. ECU trails the all-time series 9-14.
? The Pirates' 81 points were its most points since scoring 86 against Richmond in the quarterfinals of the 1991 CAA Championships.
? East Carolina improved to 64-16 under coach Jeff Lebo when scoring 70 or more points.
TEAM NOTES
? ECU had five players score in double figures for the first time since the third game of the season, when five players scored double digits against Virginia University of Lynchburg.
? The Pirates' 81 points were its most against a Division I opponent this season and most in a game since scoring 92 against Virginia University of Lynchburg this season.
? The game was ECU's first overtime game of the season and first since Feb.16, 2013. It was the Pirates' first overtime win since beating UCF in Greenville, 88-85, on Jan. 12, 2013. ECU is 4-4 all-time in overtime under Lebo.
? East Carolina improved to 12-0 this season when leading with five minutes to play.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
? East Carolina redshirt sophomore Marshall Guilmette scored a career-high 18 points in the victory.
? Freshman Lance Tejada posted career-highs for assists (8) and steals (6). ? Freshman B.J. Tyson led East Carolina in scoring for the 11th time this season, finishing with 19 points to bring his season total to 406 to become the fourth freshman in school history to score 400 points in a season.
? Tyson matched his career-high with five assists. He also distributed five assists at SMU on Jan. 17.
? Sophomore Caleb White scored 13 points to bring his career scoring total to 812, making him just the second player in the school's Division I era to score 800 or more points before the end of his sophomore season (Lester Lyons scored a total of 923 points as a freshman and sophomore from 1990-92).
? Sophomore Michel Nzege scored double figures for the first time since Jan. 24 when he had 13 at home against Tulsa. It was his seventh double figure scoring performance of the season.
? Senior Paris Roberts-Campbell scored double figures for the third time this season and first time since Jan. 24 against Tulsa.
