
Pirates Complete Sweep Of Tigers, 8-3

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina completed a two-game midweek sweep of Princeton Wednesday afternoon with an 8-3 win at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium.
The Pirates (15-6) extended their current win streak to six games (9 of last 10), while Princeton falls to 1-11 on the season.
Nick Durazo (1-0) picked up his first win of the season allowing one run (unearned) on four hits with four strikeouts in five innings of play. The lefthander retired nine of the first 10 batters he faced surrendering a leadoff single to Peter Owens in the second frame. Princeton had a pair of runners reach in the fourth, but came up empty on the board before finally pushing through in the fifth with a run on Billy Arendt's single through the right side.
Ross Gardner tossed two scoreless frames allowing a pair of hits while fanning two pushing his consecutive scoreless streak to seven innings. Evan Voliva faced four batters giving up a pair of runs (one earned) on three hits without recoding an out. Reid Love notched his third save of the season recording a pair of strikeouts in two scoreless innings.
Chris Bodurian (0-1) took the loss working four innings where he was touched for seven runs (all earned) on 12 hits. Tyler Foote held the Pirates in check surrendering an unearned run on four hits in four innings.
Eight of ECU's nine starters recorded at least one hit in the contest led by Luke Lowery's 4-for-5 performance that saw his batting average rise to .509 on the season. Parker Lamm registered three hits, while Jackson Mims, Eric Tyler and Travis Watkins each added a pair. Lamm and Charlie Yorgen each drove in a game-high two runs, while Lowery extended his current streak with at least one RBI to 13-straight games in the fourth inning.

ECU will play host to former Colonial Athletic Association foe Virginia Commonwealth this weekend in a three-game series. First game of the non-conference series is scheduled for Friday, Mar. 20 with a 6:30 p.m. (ET) first pitch.
How It Happened:
The Pirates jumped out to a 7-0 lead scoring multiple runs in three-straight innings from the second to the fourth frames. Yorgen's RBI bunt single to first in the third inning scored Lowery from 90-feet away plating the game-winning run. Lowery singled up the middle to get things started and moved to third on Mims' one-out base hit to center. Mims would score the second run of the stanza on Luke Bolka's two-out ground-rule double to left center pushing ECU's lead to 5-0.
Yorgen plated the games first run on a bunt single into no-mans land to the right of the mound scoring Watkins, who led off the second with a double to right center. Lamm's two-out two-RBI single to right center pushed Mims and Yorgen across for an early 3-0 lead.
Leading 5-0 in the fourth, Lowery's RBI single scored Lamm and Mims' sac fly plated Harman extending the Pirates lead to 7-0.
Princeton got on the board in the fifth thanks to Arendt's base hit through the right side scoring Tyler Servais and cutting the lead to 7-1. The Tigers pushed across a pair of runs in the eighth, while ECU added another score in the bottom half of the inning.
