East Carolina Head Coach Jeff Lebo
On Temple's team
"We lost to a really outstanding basketball team, an NCAA tournament team, tonight. We had our chances, but didn't shoot it really well from the foul line or from 3. We made four 3s to start the game and we ended with six. They are outstanding; they're not flashy, but they are solid in every aspect of the game. They can rebound, defend, share the ball, don't turn the ball over and they play their game without saying a word. That is why they have won as much as they have over the course of basketball history. They are a good basketball team, but again we need to shoot the ball a lot better. We had chances and they only shot 33 percent in the second half, but we just couldn't capitalize. We couldn't get [shots] to go down consistently for us in the second half."
On the Pirates' shooting struggles
"Well its hard since we are not an inside oriented team, especially against the big guys they have in there. (Temple) is tough to score on; everyone has a tough time scoring on them. I think they only give up 50-55 points a game. It is frustrating when we don't shoot it well from the perimeter."
Temple Head Coach Fran Dunphy
On the Owls' NCAA Tournament hopes
"People are talking about it, the fact that we're close. As a team we're talking about East Carolina tonight. A quick turn around against Connecticut on Saturday and our lives depend on trying to win as many games as we can and that's our next goal that we have."
On defending Whisnant and Tyson
"They are just really good players. If you leave them open a little bit they're going to find a way to knock a shot down. Tyson is really developing into a terrific scorer in this league. He's strong, he's tough, he knows how to play and he knows how to get shots on the basket. We concentrated our efforts on everybody."
