What's New For ECU Football Gameday In 2015
August 26, 2015 | Football
GREENVILLE, N.C. - As East Carolina turns the page to another football season, the athletics department is excited to announce nine additions to enhance the gameday experience for fans in 2015:
1. "Calls of the Game" -- Following every ECU Football game, IMG College will provide the "Voice of the Pirates" Jeff Charles' calls of the game, which can be found in the gameday recaps on ECUPirates.com.
2. Game Programs -- Pirate fans can now purchase football gameday programs via credit card from the ARMY ROTC Cadets in and around Dowdy Ficklen Stadium.
3. A new Distributed Antenna System (DAS) -- There is now more coverage in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium to make cell calls, but this is NOT a WiFi system. This new service is currently available for Verizon customers and U.S. Cellular, the official wireless sponsor of East Carolina Athletics, is currently working on a launch plan. U.S. Cellular will continue to bring in a Cell On Light Truck or C.O.L.T. to support Pirate fans that rely on their mobile devices to stay connected to family and friends while at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. The C.O.L.T. is a temporary cell site that will provide added network capacity for the thousands of wireless calls, texts and picture messages sent by Pirate fans on gameday.
4. New Smoking Policy -- Smoking, including the use of vaporizers and electronic cigarettes, will ONLY be allowed in the following designated smoking areas: South Side at Gate 3 and North Side at Gate 8.
5. ECU Football On TuneIn Radio -- All of East Carolina's 12 regular season football games can now be heard via the TuneIn Radio app on your mobile devices. TuneIn is the world's most popular service for listening to live, online radio. Each month, over 40 million people use TuneIn to listen to music, sports, news and talk, across more than 100,000 AM, FM and Internet radio stations. TuneIn is free, and available on more than 200 platforms to listeners in 230 countries and territories ... NOTE Pirate fans have two options when downloading the TuneIn app: (1) TuneIn Radio - listen to over 100,000 real radio stations for free or (2) TuneIn Radio Pro -- same TuneIn Radio experience, but lets you record what you are listening to for a one-time price of $9.99 without banner ads.
6. Mobile Ticketing For Students -- ECU Students will have their tickets delivered directly to their smartphone allowing students to not have to stand in line to get their tickets. ECU Students can claim their student ticket beginning at 10 a.m. the Monday prior to each home game by logging on to www.ECUPirates.com/students. Student Pirate Club members will automatically receive their student ticket each week before the game.
7. Donate Unused Tickets to the Boys and Girls Club -- Season ticket holders for football, men's basketball and baseball who are unable to use their tickets for a specific game can donate their tickets back to the Boys and Girls Club. Ticket holders can login to their account online and select the games and seats they would like to donate and the Boys and Girls Club will receive the tickets via email. This will allow them to distribute the tickets to kids throughout the Greenville area so they can have a memorable experience at a Pirate sporting event.
8. Ticket Transfer -- Football, men's basketball and baseball season ticket holders also have the option to transfer their unused tickets to another fan through our Ticket Transfer Functionality. Ticket holders can login to their account online and select the games and seats they would like to transfer and the recipient of the transfer will receive a "print-at-home" version of the ticket via email.
9. Mobile Ticket Delivery -- Fans who purchase single-game tickets now have the opportunity to have the tickets delivered to their Smartphone. Barcodes will be displayed as a QR code that will be sent directly to the individual's email account. The mobile tickets can be scanned directly off your phone upon entry into either Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, Minges Coliseum or Clark-LeClair Stadium.
