
Volleyball To Compete In Three Spring Events

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina volleyball team will compete in three tournaments during its spring season, according to an announcement by head coach Julie Torbett Friday. The Pirates will head to Charlotte, Richmond and Greensboro to take on a number of regional opponents.
ECU travels to Charlotte Saturday, April 2, for an event at the Carolina Union Volleyball Club. The Pirates kick off the day with a match against Mars Hill at 11 a.m. East Carolina also battle Western Carolina at noon, Wingate at 2 p.m. and UNC Greensboro at 4 p.m.
The following week on April 9, the Pirates will trek north to Richmond, Va. to navigate a tournament field featuring ACC members North Carolina, Duke and Virginia as well as Big South representative Radford.
East Carolina wraps up its spring endeavors April 23 with a trip over to Greensboro and North Carolina A&T University. With a schedule yet to be determined, ECU will potentially face off against the host Aggies, Elon, Radford, Barton and Catawba.
Torbett enters her fourth season in charge of the East Carolina volleyball program in 2016. She led the Pirates to 12 victories during the 2015 campaign and stands just 22 wins away from 400 for her career. The Pirates return four players who played in over 100 sets to the upcoming campaign's squad.
