ORLANDO, Fla. ā East Carolina sophomore Kate Law recorded her second top 12 finish of the season (third career) carding a final round 1-over par 73 at the UCF Challenge finishing tied for 12th place with a tournament score of 212. The three-day, 54-hole event was being held at the par-72, 6,349-yard Eagle Golf Club.
Law, who shot a personal-best 67 to open the event, finished the tournament ranked among the leaders in par-5 scoring (t1st/4.50), par-4 scoring (t10th/3.93) and total birdies (t10th/11). In all, she collected 35 pars (14 in round three), seven bogeys and one double-bogey to go with her 11 birdies.
Junior Lisa Pettersson finished tied for 38th after her final round of 74 (2-over) for a three-day score of 219, while freshmen Siranon Shoomee (222) and Dorthea Forbrigd (223) claimed a share of 54th and 62nd place. Rounding out the Pirates roster was sophomore Catherine Ashworth (234) who finished 87th. Playing as an individual was sophomore Carley Cox, who shot a final round of 74 (2-over) taking home a share of 76th.
No. 50 Clemson claimed top team honors over No. 14 Miami despite both programs posting a 14-under par 850. The Tigers won the tiebreaker after Jessica Hoang topped the Hurricanes fifth place player Dewi Weber. Seventeenth-ranked Texas along with No. 20 UCF and Mississippi State finished in a three-way tie for third with scores of 854 (10-under). The Pirates carded a three-day score of 876 (288-294-294) finishing tied for 13th at 12-over par.
ECU (62-27-1) will return to action on Feb. 27 when it travels to Coral Gables, Fla. to participate in the Hurricane Invitational.
