Pirates Tied For Lead At East Carolina Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- Host East Carolina and Coastal Carolina are tied for the team lead at 17-over-par 593 after two rounds at the 2017 East Carolina Intercollegiate being played at the par-72, 6,708-yard Brook Valley Country Club. Â
The Pirates trailed the Chanticleers by seven strokes after round one, but posted a second round score of 296 to pull even with Coastal Carolina after 36 holes. Maryland sits in third-place at 21-over-par followed by West Virginia (+23) and Old Dominion (+26) to round out the top-5 of the 11-team field.
ECU junior Tim Conover is tied with Loyola's Bennett Wisner at 1-under-par 143 for the overall individual lead. Conover fired a 3-under-par 69 in round two after firing a 2-over 74 during round one.
Pirate redshirt junior Jackson Spires is tied for fifth-place at 4-over-par with freshman Blake Taylor sitting one stroke behind his upperclassman teammate tied for 11th.
ECU senior Jack Sides stands at 7-over-par 151, tied for 25th-place. Freshman Patrick Stephenson and redshirt junior Clay Brown each carded a two round total of 11-over-par, while freshman Logan Shuping shot 13-over-par.
Senior Josh Chandler finished the day at 14-over-par and freshman Chris Ackers completed the day at 16-over-par.
Tuesday's final round is scheduled to begin at 7:50 a.m. ECU will tee off at 8:50 a.m. alongside players from Coastal Carolina and Maryland.
