“Meet The Pirates” Event Scheduled for August 12
July 27, 2017 | Football
GREENVILLE, N.C. - The 23rd Annual "Meet the Pirates" event, East Carolina's preseason football fanfest, is scheduled for Saturday, August 12 on Bagwell Field inside Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium from 6-9 p.m. and is being presented this year by Piggly Wiggly.
This year's activities will once again be open to the public, family friendly and free for all in attendance. Entry into the stadium will be through Gate 7 or 8 on the North side.
Pirate football fans are invited to receive autographs from second-year head coach Scottie Montgomery and the 2017 team during the event. Posters and schedule cards with game information will also be available for free to fans. To help ensure everyone in attendance has a chance to meet all the players and Coach Mo, fans are asked to limit their autograph requests to only one (1) item per person. Event staff will be on hand to assist with this policy.
One hour prior to the start of the football autograph session, Pirate fans will also have a chance to secure autographs from the soccer and volleyball programs, as well as the cheerleaders, dance team and PeeDee starting at 6 p.m. Other attractions include inflatable activities and pirate skull entrance for photo opportunities, while several Piggly Wiggly vendors including Coca-Cola will be on hand to offer fans tailgate samples throughout the event.
ARAMARK concessions and the Dowdy Student Stores souvenir booth, which will have the latest in Pirate merchandise (including items suitable for autographing for each sport), will be open beneath the north side of the lower-level grandstands. Fans are asked to keep food and beverages off Bagwell Field.
The Pirates will open the 2017 season at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium against defending FCS National Champion James Madison on Saturday, September 2 with a 6 p.m. (ET) scheduled kickoff.
As in past years, fans that have not purchased their 2017 season tickets will have the opportunity to do so at the event. Fans can test out selected open seats that are available to purchase as season tickets. Ticket office and Pirate Club representatives will be on hand to assist fans and take orders.
Season tickets remain on sale with tickets starting at $175 each, in addition to 3-game mini-plan packages which are also available for as low as $105. Single game tickets will be available for purchase for all seven home games this season starting August 3. Purchases may be made via ECU's Online Ticket Center or by calling the Athletics Ticket Office at (800) DIAL-ECU.
