Cox Finishes Tied For 10th At Alexa Stirling Intercollegiate

ATLANTA, Ga. – Senior Carley Cox (74-72-77) shot a 7-over par score of 223 at the Alexa Stirling Intercollegiate leading the ECU women's golf team to a seventh place finish. The three-day, 54-hole event was being held at the par 72, 6,210-yard Atlanta Athletic Club.
The Pirates (25-26) closed out the fall portion of their event posting a 49-over par 913 (303-300-310) finishing eight shots behind No. 35 Kennesaw State (905) and six behind No. 29 Georgia (907). Host and No. 36 Louisville (882) claimed the tournament title with a one-shot win over No. 30 Auburn (883).
"It was a very disappointing fall season," ECU Head Coach Kevin Williams said. "We are a very talented team, but have a lot of work to do before we resume competition again in the spring."
With her finish, Cox claimed a share of 10th place for the second time this season and the fifth of her career. Junior Dorthea Forbrigd finished tied for 25th with a three-day score of 228 (72-76-80) posting her fourth Top 25 placement of the season. Rounding out the Pirates lineup were senior Kate Law (77-79-75=231, t35th), junior Siranon Shoomee (80-74-79=233, t42nd) and sophomore Kathryn Carson (81-78-79=238, t53rd).
ECU will return to action on Sunday, Feb. 3 when it participates in the UCF Challenge at the Eagle Creek Golf Club.
